Think a cross between Hogwarts and Wind in the Willows, a magical place in the heart of a red cedar forest where the spirits of the land are lively and you will be fed and tended better than you thought possible before you came here A place where you share dreams at the breakfast table and see them spill into the day – into theater and performance in our cedar grove under the Council Tree, into spontaneous art and writing in the yurt, into wonderful games of synchronicity, into storytelling and story making out on the deck under moon and stars. A place that you will find is the perfect departure lounge for journeys to other worlds, to places of healing, initiation and discovery where shamans, mystics and creators have always wanted to go.
     Robert has been leading extraordinary retreats at Mosswood Hollow for more than two decades. This year’s gathering is the sole in-person retreat he is leading this year, a unique opportunity to gather with the story master - the creator of Active Dreaming, Robert’s original synthesis of dreamwork and shamanism – and a family of creative dreamers from all over the world map.
     We’ll practice real magic, which is the art of bringing gifts from another world into this one. We’ll practice the ancient arts of the dream shamans: time travel and transtemporal healing,  shapeshifting, soul recovery, mutual lucid dreaming, psychopomp missions. We’ll play marvelous games of kairomancy, a term Robert invented for the art of navigating life by Kairos moments of synchronicity when the universe gets personal.
     You’ll entertain your spirits, including your magical child, your animal allies and your creative muse or daimon. You’ll bring together more of your selves, with all their gifts, and dance with your shadow. You will practice soul remembering, reclaiming knowledge that belonged to you on the level of soul and spirit before you entered this life experience. Awakened by anamnesis, you will be ready for a deep adventure in soul growing, inviting more of your Higher Self to share life in your present body.
     We’ll go with the flow of your dreams and desires and the spirits that will come to play with you. We’ll be open to what Seamus Heaney called the “surge of utterance” that brings through the best creations. We’ll court the word souls and the story spirits as the Wayuu story shamans call them.
     The First People of Robert’s native Australia say that the Big stories are hunting the right people to tell them. You will find yourself in a place where you are easily found. You will discover that when you are seized by your Big story your world is different, You drop the dead snakeskin of your old personal histories. When you walk with your Big story you take everyday ups and downs in your stride because you walk with mythic power. Tell your Big story well, and others hear you. Tell it well enough, and it takes root in your world.
      In the course of these magical days of Mosswood dreaming, something rich and strange may happen to you: you may become a story magician for others. You know people who have lost their dreams and need a dream - a healing image, a vision of life possibility, a symbol charged with power, a road map to the next life. You will learn the practice Robert sometimes calls Dream Transfer, which is a way to help someone change the behavior of the body and the experience of the world by giving them a better story than the one they have been living, and inviting them to make it their own.
