Our Story

Hi. Our names are Paul Martin and Sandra Grumman. We are the owners and directors of Mosswood Hollow Retreat Center. We became stewards of this 40 acre piece of land in 1983 with the intent of fulfilling a longtime vision of providing a space for people to come to for learning, healing, and renewal. The land was raw and wild, and we have worked with it conscientiously in order to honor and enhance its inherent beauty.

Mosswood Hollow is a sanctuary, an oasis of peace and natural beauty. There are open fields, deep forests, ponds and streams, a mile long walking trail around a five acre beaver pond, flower and vegetable gardens and loads of wildlife. The large and gracious lodge sleeps twenty-two and up to eighty can be seated for meals in our spacious dining room. Comfortable chairs on the wraparound porch are perfect for reading, journaling, impromptu conversations, or small breakout group work. The living room with its stone fireplace, comfortable couches and chairs is a popular after dinner gathering place. Our meeting space is a thirty foot yurt, about 150 yards from the lodge and it comfortably seats forty in a circle. During free time guest enjoy soaking in our six person hot tub spa. Meals are lovingly prepared from scratch using organic, home grown or locally grown produce whenever possible.

We are ever eager to make our guests feel comfortable and nurtured and to assist the facilitators of each event, in any way we can, to create the experience they envision. Please contact us if you have any questions about hosting your event here or planning to visit for a workshop or retreat.
